Dartmouth Mourns ProfessorsCommunity members were still adjusting to the news that Professors Susanne and Half Zantop were killed Saturday in their home at 115 Trescott Road in Etna, NH—just three miles from campus. State Police Investigate Zantop MurderThe Zantops were found dead in their Etna, NH, home early Saturday night, January 27. The state Attorney General's Office, working in conjunction with the New Hampshire State Police and the Hanover Police Department, is conducting a homicide investigation into the deaths. Half Zantop: 'He was one I admired.'Dartmouth remembers Professor Half Zantop. Susanne Zantop: 'Unfailingly Gentle'Dartmouth faculty and students alike mourn the loss of this spirited, gifted woman who served the College for almost twenty years. She will not be forgotten. Chan's Conservative Master PlanAs long as the school keeps its campus physically integrated and its borders as close as possible, a rise in enrollment is more worrisome than the construction of new buildings. The Case of PinochetIt looks as if those who hate Pinochet will stop at nothing to harass him. They speak of "justice," of course, but apparently care little for the agreement with Pinochet that led to the return of civilian democratic rule. Halfway Heaven: A Personal OdysseyOn May 28, 1995 Sinedu Tadesse, an Ethiopian student at Harvard, murdered her roommate Trang Ho. Sinedu stabbed Trang forty-five times in the arms, neck and chest, and then proceeded to hang herself with a noose that she had prepared in advance. Ouch: Hate HurtsStella Baer reviews the "definitive handbook for adults and children on confronting and conquering bias and encouraging appreciation for our differences." |
A Time of Loss and MourningDartmouth's troubled community would be much restored by a quick resolution and swift justice.
