Mixology: the Bay BreezeBay Breeze 2 ounces vodka 1 ounce cranberry juice 1 ounce pineapple juice Serve on ice. While perusing the Journal last Monday, I had the sudden inspiration to jet up to Thornhill, north of Toronto, and play a round of golf at the Ladies Golf Club of Toronto. I pulled a few of my Canadian strings and managed to get a tee time at this exclusive club. Since I could only play as a sponsored guest, I was on my best behavior the entire time—the entire time, that is, until I got to the first tee, where I had to wait twenty minutes for the foursome in front of me to putt their way off the tee. Since there are few things in life worse than waiting for a preceding group play the game of golf, I immediately reached for my always-present flask of Makers Mark. While I was hoping to be able to play through at some point, I quickly learned that this pace of play is, as they say, par for the course. By the time I played the first nine holes, I was fed up and out of bourbon, so I decided to call it a day. I went straight to the bar and asked the bartender for a stiff drink. Suffice to say I was not expecting what I received. |
