Book Kabir Sehgal for Your Next Event!Editor's Note: Long-time readers of these pages are no doubt familiar with Kabir Sehgal '05, the self-described "serial entreprenuer" and the creative impressario behind The BuzzFlood [see TDR 10/8/03 & 2/7/04]. This summer he debuted a new website, www.kabirsehgal.com. Sadly, it is no longer on-line. Fortunately, we have preserved the text and reprinted it here, verbatim, for your consideration and enjoyment. Kabir Sehgal is a third year student at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Referred to as a "serial entrepreneur," Kabir started his first company at the age of 10 when he sold stationary to his neighbors and classmates. He started to fix computers and build intranets for Law Companies and Williams Group International. Kabir's most recent venture is CodeIvy, a website that enables highschool students, college students, and alumni to interact. It's an Ivy League portal. With over 130,000 students applying to the Ivy League every year, Kabir felt a community website could help relay pertinent information about all aspects of the college process by putting students in touch with one another. He serves as the Chairman of the Board. Kabir has appeared in publications such as the New York Times, Foreign Affairs, Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He's been interviewed by several magazines and newspapers. In fall of 2003, Kabir agreed to serve as the internet campaign manager for a United States Senate candidate from the state of Georgia. Several Georgia candidates asked Kabir to run their web operations and head up their college outreach program. Information on the website and candidate (who is yet to announce) is forthcoming. In the summer of 2003, Kabir co-founded BuzzFlood , a Dartmouth College student group that is dedicated to celebrating excellence at Dartmouth. Now one of the largest student groups at Dartmouth, both in numbers and following, the group is in the midst of bringing notable speakers to Dartmouth such as esteemed professors. BuzzFlood is a "positive underground" group that collects stories of excellence at Dartmouth and then syndicates the stories across the world, in order to let more people know about the peerless Dartmouth education. In summer 2003, Kabir was named one of the "50 most accomplished second year students in the world" by the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders program. Kabir attended the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Institute in New York and heard from CEOs and Presidents of several respected companies. In the spring of 2003, Kabir finished his first book under the stewardship of Dr. Jeff Rosensweig, Associate Dean of the Goizueta School of Business at Emory University. Kabir is awaiting publication of his first book next year. He is currently writing his second book. Kabir writes for his school newspaper, The Dartmouth and has also professionally published papers on e-commerce. He's also written for the Indian National Science Academy, Student Ink Magazine, and Dartmouth Alumni Magazine. For a list of publications, click here. In late summer of 2002, Kabir agreed to help organize Senator Joe Lieberman's Joe 2004! New Hampshire campaign at Dartmouth College. Senator Lieberman has referred to Kabir as his "secret weapon." In the summer of 2002, Kabir worked with Senator John D. Rockefeller IV in Washington, DC. He attended several congressional hearings for Sen. Rockefeller's office. Kabir also aided his mentor Senator Max Cleland of Georgia. Also in the summer of 2002, Kabir worked with United Parcel Service (UPS) to enhance their road sales operations. The project on which he worked turned out to be one of the most successful in UPS's history. Working with the sales office, Kabir was able to offer insights on how to create a sales roadshow. In 2000, Kabir created Mindvine Technologies where he serves as the Chairman and CEO. Mindvine is a technology company that offers website design, internet consulting, and broader internet and idea consulting. Most recently, Mindvine has consulted with Daimler-Chrysler Corporation, a multi-million dollar contract. Mindvine has worked in conjunction with other contracters with several Fortune 500 companies including Georgia State University, Eastman Kodak Corporation, The Ritz Carlton, Memorial Health Services, Bellsouth, Chase Manhattan Bank, and several others. In 1998, Kabir joined iXL Web Consultants and worked on several internet projects as a database designer, graphic artist, and project manager. In 1996, Kabir created Supersonic Webdesigns, a small web boutique that catered to smaller companies and organizations' web needs. He served as the CEO and created dynamic web solutions. He created the website for HJ Russell and company, one of the largest minority-owned construction companies in America. Also in 1996, Kabir was an official torchbearer for the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta . Kabir is also an accomplished jazz bassist. He started a high school jazz trio "The Jazz Pioneers" that toured the Atlanta jazz scene. The group was featured on Fox 5 Atlanta television and the Atlanta Journal Constitution. In 2000, Kabir was honored with the national award, "Most Outstanding Soloist" by the Lincoln Center in New York. Kabir has performed on several occasions with jazz greats such as Mr. Wynton Marsalis, Mr. Adam Nitti ,Christian McBride, and others. Kabir has met several well known individuals from Michael Jordan to Michael Dell. He has an ongoing relationship with several as they serve as mentors: Ambassador Andrew Young, Former Governor Roy Barnes, Mr. Wynton Marsalis, Mr. Bernie Marcus, President Jimmy Carter, and many others.
