Zeta Psi RisingThankfully, Dartmouth’s administration has begun to reverse the mistakes of the past, in a deal forged in the waning months of the fall term. In an agreement signed by representatives from the College, the Zeta Psi Alumni Association and Zete’s national organization, the College’s Zete chapter is back on track for recognition by the Fall of 2009. “Partner, Remember the Hills?”Editor’s Note: The following poem was composed in 1913 by Fred Harris ’11, a former president of the Dartmouth Outing Club, and the man credited with creating Dartmouth’s Winter Carnival. Winter Carnival: Stories of the Mardi Gras of the NorthThough Carnival is not what it once was—and what is these days?—students this year will again reclaim College traditions and hark back to the days of old. Carnival remains a celebration of the outdoors, of life, and of Dartmouth. Ravenous Radical in Sheep’s ClothingEdwards’ brand of populism is the scum of American politics. Unable to capture either of the classical political constituencies, he panders to the worst combination of the American voting bloc: the poor and the stupid. Universal Healthcare, Hold the SocialismUniversal health care could to be one of the most important issues of the upcoming election; one candidate already has a solid post-election strategy. TDR Music Review: FilligarAlternative-rock has long suffered from the fits and starts common to the black-garbed-identity-crisis-proned-and-tortured artiste: thankfully, either through the availability of designer drugs (Prosac, and the like) or sensational multi-vitamins, the droopy-headed whiners are beginning to come to terms with their misbegotten and half-assed angst. Big Green Sports UpdateComing off of a 3rd place finish in last year’s national championship, the Dartmouth ski team is truly one of the elite. This year, despite numerous graduations, has been no different. Barrett's MixologyScotch 2 oz. Single malt Scotch whisky. Serve in a tulip glass. Agitate. The Last WordQuotation, n: The act of repeating erroneously the words of another. |
Upon These PillarsCarnival is the time when Dartmouth collectively steps outside and commands Mother Nature to halt at a time when all logic would dictate retreat to a down comforter and a roaring fireplace. Granted, the beer probably helps.
