Well, looks like the administration successfully kept its promise! The following message arrived in blitz inboxes this afternoon from Associate Dean of Campus Life April Thompson:
Dear summer students:
I am pleased to inform you that the Student Swim Dock is back in the
Connecticut River. Preparations for opening will be complete on Saturday
morning, and the dock will open for the summer at the new site on Saturday at
noon. The dock will be open daily thereafter from 12-7 through the end of
summer term.
As I mentioned in my message to you last week, consistent with the policy at
the pool in the athletic complex, you will need to leave your student ID with
the lifeguard staff while you are on the dock. The improvements that have been
made address some of the inherent risks of swimming in the river, but they do
not eliminate them. Please make thoughtful and informed decisions about where
and when you choose to swim. As always, swimming is only permitted when guards
are on duty. As you walk down to the docks, please remain on the path to allow
freshly planted vegetation to grow and stay clear of continuing work in the
area.
Have a safe and wonderful 4th of July weekend.
Sincerely,
April Thompson
Associate Dean of the College for Campus Life
See you Saturday!
