On October 29, the Dartmouth Big Green lost 28-13 to Harvard. The first half of the game began well. However, Dartmouth’s offense quickly deteriorated after a missed kick ended the second quarter.
The loss marks a low point of an already disappointing season. Perhaps the former Indians should consider reverting their name if it would let them win a few games.
The first points of the game were scored by Harvard in the first quarter on account of a 34-yard pass to Kym Wimberly. Dartmouth’s Nick Howard followed suit in the second quarter by punching through a touchdown from the one-yard line. Soon after, Harvard responded to the score with another touchdown of their own. Dartmouth ended the half with a final touchdown run by Zack Blair. Unfortunately, a faulty kick by Ryan Bloch left Dartmouth down 14-12 to the Pilgrims.
While the first half of the game was close, the second was a blowout. Harvard scored 14 points. Dartmouth floundered about, failing to score even a field goal. The Big Green’s plethora of pitiful plays was an embarrassment to even the most devout defender of the College. The loss leaves Dartmouth with a 2-5 record for the season. With only three games left, any hopes of a winning record have been laid to rest.
