President Obama was a fan of Jeremy Lin before it was cool. In an interview with Bill Simmons, the non-conformist commander-in-chief wanted to let everyone know that he is cooler than you.
“I knew about Jeremy before you did, or everybody else did,” said the culturally-aware leader of the free world, who is apparently on a first name basis with the New York Knicks’s star point guard, “because Arne Duncan, my secretary of education, was captain of the Harvard tea, I’ve been on the Jeremy Lin bandwagon for a while.”
At least the enlightened hipster didn’t let his smugness go too far.
“I can’t take credit for it, but I’m just saying I was there early.”
This development raises a serious question: will Obama continue to cheer for Jeremy Lin now that he has become so mainstream?
