Indian Football Loses a Heartbreaker

It’s hard to think of a better inaugural night game in terms of drama, but it would’ve been nice to have a W on the board.

After taking the lead in the early fourth quarter, the Indians were unable to hold on as the Quakers from Penn marched down the field and threw a TD with 17 seconds left to give Penn a 22-20 lead. The PAT was blocked, which kept the game within a field goal.

Shawn Abuhoff was able to return the ball to the Dartmouth 43, but Connor Kempe ’12 was intercepted on the first play from scrimmage and the Quakers escaped Memorial Field with a narrow victory.

The Indians drop to 1-2 on the season while Penn picks up their first victory. A shame; Dartmouth nearly broke Penn’s 15-game Ivy win streak.

Next up, Dartmouth takes on the Bulldogs from Yale (2-1), who are coming off of a week of rest after smacking Cornell around 37-17.
