With Winter Carnival only a few weeks away, the internet has again started to take notice. Richard Press, about whom I’ve written before, has another post up on style website Ivy Style, this one on Carnival legend Budd Schulberg, whose adventures with F. Scott Fitzgerald have been well-documented. Press recalls meeting Schulberg during his senior year, as well as other Carnival happenings such as the slalom race and the something called a ‘bull shot’ which appears to be a hyper-masculine bloody mary variant favored by the Chi Phis (now Chi Heorots). Ultimately, the piece is a good bit of nostalgia – certainly worth a read for anyone with an eye towards Dartmouth’s past. You can find the post here.
