Critics of early decision say the process puts too much pressure on students to apply early, before they’ve had a chance to review all of their options.
[Dartmouth Dean of Admissions Karl] Furstenberg disagrees. He said that by making early decision nonbinding, Yale and Stanford did “nothing to reduce pressure on students.”“I don’t think it’s as big a step as they’re making it out to be,” he said.
