The Wind Chill

3 oz creme de menthe

2 handfuls of street salt

4 stolen frackets

1/8th of “snow”

A frozen radiator

You wake up to the fourth alarm you’ve snoozed and jump out of bed. The singe of the radiator on your shin awakens you from the groggy state as you check the weather app and fumble into sweatpants for the 4th time this week. 10 inches of snow must be disposed of with the handfuls of sodium chloride. The silver lining: the number on the display is a positive number and that is enough of a reason to trudge through another day of winter. The minty fumes of the creme de menthe beckon you closer in a cold delight. You pour it over ice and bring it to your lips just before the display drops… what catches your eye… the dreaded words: “feels like”. You discern a negative sign and numbers so low you thought them to be imaginary. On second thought maybe a dash of Aphi snow should sweeten the deal. 2 spoonfuls, stir to taste. Ah maybe winter isn’t so bad after all.
