Women’s Basketball Loses Again

On January 21, Dartmouth’s women’s basketball team lost their home game to Princeton 79-59, marking yet another loss in the team’s tumultuous 2-18 season. Seeing as the audience was smaller than that of the average high school game, perhaps this article will allow a few more people to experience how much of a chore it was to view the game.

The Big Green began with a good first quarter in which Mia Curtis, number 5, managed a 3-point buzzer-beater to tie the quarter 17-17. The second quarter was more of the same, a close game which left Dartmouth narrowly behind by a point. In the second half, however, the game completely deteriorated. The team succumbed to the seductive sirens’ songs of traveling, double dribbling, and passing to absolutely no one. The Big Green’s lack of ability to handle the basketball resulted in the opposing Tigers triumphing on the court, pulling away with a clear lead in the second half.

While the game was lacking, the season at large has been worse. Dartmouth’s record of 2-18 is absolutely abysmal. One of these 18 losses was against the Rhode Island Rams with a final score of 89-36. The level of play the team exhibited could only be described as artless. With the absence of any play worth admiring, the only appropriate descriptor of the team is that they are a disgrace to the standing of Title IX.
