Affirmative Action – Pernicious, Disgusting, and Demeaning?

Deroy Murdock visited the Rockefeller Center yesterday to deliver a speech justifying discrimination. He claims that it is a moral and legal right for private institutions to discriminate. Murdock, a common guest of FOX, CNBC, and C-SPAN, justified discrimination legally by referring to the Constitution’s first and ninth amendments in which the people (the private sector) are guaranteed the right to peaceably assemble and the rights that are not enumerated for the state in the Constitution. Murdock, who is gay and black, said that it is a business’s right to discriminate, but it is the government’s responsibility to ensure equality before the law. He said this about racial quotas: “I find [them] pernicious, disgusting and highly demeaning,”
